SUPERPOSITION SERIES, 2025
Cotton twine and oil on canvas
55 x 46 cm

The Superposition series draws on the concept of a field in quantum physics that holds multiple potential directions before a single reality stabilises. Cotton string is placed by hand onto the canvas and painted in soft gradients of diluted oil paint or acrylic ink, allowing the surface to remain open and unresolved.
The works develop through a process that resists fixed outcomes, holding parallel possibilities within the same form. The titles are drawn from Rainer Maria Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet, whose reflections on uncertainty and patience resonate with the series’ attention to duration, hesitation, and becoming. Recorded excerpts from the text, read by the artist, form part of an accompanying sound work.
