Microplastisphere (2025) examines the ecologies that form on fragments of plastic. Plastic particles operate like human-made planets, carrying complex microbial communities ranging from antibiotic-resistant bacteria to plastic-digesting organisms. While profoundly problematic for both human and non-human ecosystems, this scientific phenomenon reveals how life adapts, clings to, and reanimates even the most insignificant remnants of human civilisation.
