Microplastisphere (2025) is composed of dyed post-industrial elastic arranged laterally on a mirrored floor. The material is compressed into a circular formation and fixed to the substrate at strategic points along its diameter, containing the mass within a defined boundary.
Its undulating structure follows residual waves formed during the dyeing process and is shaped through the interaction between compression, the flat surface of the mirror, and the elastic’s tendency to expand and recoil.
The title refers to the term plastisphere, used to describe microbial communities that form on plastic fragments, framing the circle as a contained field of synthetic accumulation.
